About

My name is Monica Schmit.

All of my life I have been inspired by the stories and beautiful visuals created through the medium of animation, from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty to Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe. It is my belief that through well told stories we can develop more empathy and imagination for the world around us and that animation has the ability to do this on an artistic level that few mediums can match. However one of the mediums that can do so is the newer medium of video game design. Having grown up playing video games I have experienced the joy they can bring to people and the vast creative potential that can really only exist in a medium built around interacting with the person experiencing it.

It is my goal as an artist and designer to help create designs and art that can inspire others. So through hard-work and creativity I aspire to bring to life deep, emotional stories that will touch the hearts of the people who watch them.

In pursuit of this goal I’ve graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stout with two BFAs, on in Entertainment Design with a concentration in Animation and one Game Design and Development. I also pursued a minor in Computer Science. I’ve taken classes in areas from graphic design to life drawing to help make me a well rounded artist who can handle any project thrown at me. In my spare time I’ve worked on projects such as helping to create the visuals of game a fellow student at stout created called Bot Hop and worked as a part of a small team to design logos and animations for the Wisconsin state science olympiad competition a few years ago.
